J. Hunt Holdings provides capital and functional expertise to help early stage ventures build, grow and scale their business models. The family members are active investors who work closely with entrepreneurs to build successful companies, and their most successful investments come from working closely with founders and management teams to create value.
Areas of Focus
J. Hunt Holdings invests in a range of companies, industries and sectors, but its central focus is technology and telecommunications. In instances where the primary business is not directly technology related, the investment philosophy has been framed around the concept of using technology to greatly impact the effectiveness of the business. Current areas of focus include:
- Video & Sensing
- Data Center Management
- Social Media
- Mobile Applications
- Data Security
- Creative technology applied to other industries
Investment Size
In cases where J. Hunt Holdings has been the sole investor in a company, investments range from less than $100,000 to $1,100,000 per project. In many cases the investments are syndicated with like-minded family offices, angels and/or venture capital firms. In general, the family invests greater funds in projects where they can take a more active board seat, as evidenced in the portfolio review listed on this site.
In some cases they have staged investments with milestones attached, but in most instances they have invested all funds at the outset of their participation.
